What is the Skyborne race in WoW Forever?

WoW Forever Skyborne are the new playable race introduced with Forever. Blizzard’s official store connects the race with the Zephras Isle starting experience and describes the surrounding world as a new path through Azeroth. The race can be explored as part of the wider Forever reveal, while its access requirements are a separate purchase question.

It shows the announced race in the game presentation, but is not a complete inventory of appearances, abilities or final class options. Why does the story begin on Zephras Isle?

Blizzard's dedicated Skyborne article says Highborne exiles formed a pact with wind spirits and built a civilization in Skywall. On Zephras Isle, the spirits have disappeared, old structures are failing and communities are cut off from one another. The island is the race's level 1–12 starting experience. The two factions respond to that crisis differently:

Both variants can also be Warriors, Hunters, Rogues and Druids. Blizzard says the Druids have new forms made specifically for Skyborne, rather than simply reusing another race's appearance. This is a story and character-selection distinction; it does not establish that one faction has a performance advantage.

The official article also confirms facial and skin options, hair and ear choices, feathers, tattoos, voices, a new dance and barber-shop changes later for in-game coin. Some options differ by body type. If appearance is your deciding factor, inspect the character creator before purchasing an upgrade or choosing a faction; an announcement is not a complete screenshot inventory for the launch client.

Which classes can Skyborne play?

Blizzard’s official game page names the Alliance High Order and Horde Windshaper variants. Both support Warrior, Hunter, Rogue and Druid; the extra caster choice is Mage on Alliance and Shaman on Horde.

For a view of every class and faction, open the race and class combinations table. Use the race comparison to view both variants together. Choosing a particular class filters out incompatible preview options. Remember that two panels in the tool can represent the same race on different factions; the comparison does not imply that a character can switch freely between them.

Which Skyborne racials differ by faction? {#skyborne-racials}

Blizzard’s September 22 guide lists four abilities for each variant:

Use the race-selection guide to compare the two utilities in an actual choice. Published descriptions can change before launch; read the in-client tooltip before relying on a precise value.

How do you unlock Skyborne?

The official game page lists Skyborne and Zephras Isle with Heroic and higher upgrades. It also says Forever is included with an active WoW subscription. Those are separate facts: ongoing access to the game and access to an optional race should not be treated as the same entitlement.

This guide does not attempt to reproduce every regional edition or price. Visit the current official shop in your region to check which product includes the race and early name reservation. Product names and eligibility can differ, and a physical collection’s shipping date is not the game’s launch date.

Questions to settle at character creation

If Skyborne is on your shortlist, verify the class selection first. Next, inspect the actual racial tooltips on your chosen faction and test the behavior that matters to you. A glide’s practical value depends on how and where it works, while a regeneration effect may have conditions that a short summary does not capture.

Appearance and starting-zone preference can also matter more than an early numerical comparison. Watch the official gameplay trailer for the reveal’s presentation and use the world guide for what is known about Zephras Isle. Choose the movement and utility abilities you expect to enjoy using.
