Which region contains the destination? The world and zone images, then the destination indexThe exact entrance or a safe path to it
Which passage leads from the outdoor area to the instance?A supported pre-instance approach mapBoss order or an interior pull plan
Which room or floor is the party on?The dungeon's interior layout, with the correct floor selectedCurrent enemy positions or quest eligibility

Do not solve an interior-room problem with an outdoor zone image. Equally, a drawing of the dungeon interior does not tell a new arrival how to find its entrance in the outdoor world.

Two community tools answer different questions

Addon author documentation · checked October 8.

  • HiddenMaps: its October 8 author announcement describes normal World Map integration and position/facing tracking in supported approaches, including Uldaman, Blackfathom Deeps and Gnomeregan. Dungeon interiors remain static. The author lists Ragefire Chasm and Excavation Site: Wetlands among the supported instances.
  • Forever Instance Maps: the project describes a separate map browser, floor selection, route drawing and party sharing. Its listing identifies 1.52, released October 4. The dated file notes identify the added Wetlands layout with boss labels still missing.

Our choice rule: use an approach map when the problem is reaching the instance transition; use an interior layout when the problem is agreeing on a room, floor or party drawing. Neither description certifies compatibility with your other addons or the current server build.

We link the authors' projects rather than republishing their map assets. Their artwork, licences and attribution are separate from this site's explanation.

Ragefire Chasm: reject the wrong version before the run

The HiddenMaps author explains that the available Retail Ragefire map represents a materially different layout; their Classic/Forever map instead uses client geometry.

Before the party uses a map:

  1. Confirm that the map is for Classic/Forever Ragefire Chasm, not Retail.
  2. Compare the first visible corridor or junction with the map. A familiar boss name alone does not establish a matching layout.
  3. Use the Ragefire first-run guide for encounter landmarks and party responses. They are preparation notes, not coordinates to paste onto a map.
  4. If a branch differs, stop following the drawing. Record the map/addon version and client build before deciding which record is outdated.

A useful party call is “we are at this junction on this map version; check the visible branch before the next pull.” It provides a reference the group can inspect, rather than asking them to trust an unverified line.

Excavation Site: Wetlands — a floor is not a boss directory

The October 1 official notes name Excavation Site: Wetlands with guidance of 26–31. This differs from some older preview ranges; it is level guidance, not a minimum-entry requirement. The world briefing keeps that announcement separate from access checks.

For the 1.52 community map, use the layout to compare rooms and stairways. A missing boss marker is an incomplete annotation, not permission to assume the next room is empty. Before leaving, check the dated relic hand-in reports and your own quest inventory; those player reports do not establish a current official fix.

Share a plan the whole party can read

Use map version → floor → starting landmark → next move as the order of discussion.

  1. Match the map and version. Ask whether everyone reading the shared drawing has the same supported layout.
  2. Name the floor. “Upstairs” can mean a map floor or a nearby stairway. Use the displayed floor selection and a visible landmark together.
  3. Agree on a starting point. Compare a doorway, junction or stairs in the client. Do not assume a static map is tracking your character.
  4. Draw one move at a time. A line can communicate intent, but it does not verify current packs, patrols, boss positions or a safe pull.
  5. Recheck after a mismatch. Keep a screenshot and version notes. Resume only after the group agrees where the drawing starts.

Example: “On the selected floor, start at the doorway we can all see, then compare the next junction before moving.” The example supplies a communication method, not a route through a specific room.

Diagnose a missing or mismatched map

SymptomTry this narrow checkWhat the symptom does not prove
The addon is absentCheck the Forever client folder and addon list using the installation checklistThat the map project has stopped working for everyone
Wetlands is missing from an older copyCompare your installed version with the dated 1.52 record and the chosen projectThat the dungeon is closed
No moving player arrow inside the instanceCheck whether the author describes that interior as staticThat a live-position feature is broken
The drawing starts in the wrong roomCompare floor, landmark and map version before drawing againThat the whole game zone changed
The layout visibly disagrees with the clientPreserve the mismatch, version and build; report it to the project with evidenceThat a guessed correction is safe for the next group

Next, check quest and group readiness, the Rogue preparation guide, or your class's spell records. A map is one part of preparation, not a substitute for party duties.

Editorial record: selection rules, examples and troubleshooting are Forever Atlas analysis. Tool features are author claims; dungeon availability is a dated official announcement. No client playtest, complete quest route, coordinates or independently calibrated dungeon image is claimed.

Questions from the campfire

Do all Forever dungeon maps track my position?

No. The HiddenMaps author describes position tracking for supported pre-instance approaches and static maps for dungeon interiors. A route drawn on another addon’s map also does not prove live tracking.

Can I use a Retail Ragefire Chasm map for Forever?

Do not assume that layout matches. The HiddenMaps author specifically distinguishes Retail Ragefire from Classic/Forever and describes a separate geometry-based map for the latter.

Does a missing Wetlands boss label mean no boss is there?

No. The dated Forever Instance Maps 1.52 release says its new Wetlands map lacks boss locations. Missing labels describe the map’s coverage, not the dungeon’s contents.
